As the team works to develop Recreatur, collaborative public input is a critical component-we need your thoughts and feedback to help co-create the vision. Where are more parks, playgrounds, and other facilities needed? What recreation programs should be offered? How can parks and recreation help address the complex challenges facing our community?
We hope you will take part and thank you for your time and input!
What is a Parks and Recreation Master Plan?
The goal of the parks and recreation master plan is to create a long-range, community-supported vision for how the City will move the parks and recreation system forward. The plan is data-driven and rooted in understanding the current conditions of the park system and city, coupled with planning for projected changes and expected future improvements. It will provide recommendations for the facilities, programs, services, improvements, and more, all with the mission of making Decatur more resilient, healthy, and thriving.
Yes, this is a community-input driven process and the outcome and future recommendations will be driven by the needs and vision articulated by the community members.
Through the Participate section on this website you can provide open ended suggestions, respond to the online survey, know the dates for public meetings and even share feedback through social media as well.
This will be a 10 month process commencing in March 2022 and anticipated completion in January 2023
The Master Plan is led by Atlanta based Perez Planning + Design, INC (led by Mr. Carlos Perez) and national consultants PROS Consulting, INC. (led by Mr. Neelay Bhatt) and ETC Institute.
